Session 1
"Greenest on Fire"
The Town
The party arrived in the town of Greenest under ominous skies, only to find the city under siege. A blue dragon loomed overhead, flanked by swarms of kobolds and dragon cultists wreaking havoc across the streets. Yet something was off—the dragon’s assault seemed half-hearted, its lightning charged breath aimed more at hay bales and open fields than at the townspeople themselves. It was chaos for chaos’s sake, not slaughter.
As the party pushed deeper into the town, they spotted a female guard cornered by a group of kobolds. Without hesitation, they intervened, swiftly dispatching the attackers and saving the guard. Grateful but urgent, she informed them she was headed to the keep and urged the party to do the same, suggesting they speak with Governor Nighthill.
Greenest Keep
Navigating through the embattled streets, the party reached the keep and was introduced to Governor Nighthill and his trusted ally, Escobert the Red. Escobert, clearly pressed for time and resources, asked the party to help clear a tunnel that led into the city, an alternate route that could prove vital.
The Tunnels
The party ventured into the tunnel and successfully cleared it of rats. However, their progress hit a snag when they accidentally seized up the lock on the grate at the tunnel’s end, rendering it temporarily unusable. Undeterred, they made their way back toward the keep, but along the way, spotted a dragon cultist darting into a nearby house.
The Ambush
Determined to investigate, the party followed. Razc attempted to bluff his way in by posing as a fellow dragon cultist, but the ruse failed, and he was met with an ambush. The party fought back fiercely, killing the dragon cultists involved, except for one, who was bound and brought back to the keep for questioning.
The Challenge
As the raid began to wane and the first light of dawn crept over the horizon, a new threat emerged. A blue dragonborn strode into town, flanked by sixteen kobolds and holding Nighthill’s sister, teenage nephew, and two niblings hostage. The dragonborn issued a chilling challenge: send forth the town’s fiercest warrior for single combat. If the warrior prevailed, the hostages would be freed.
Dorn Dundragon stepped forward to accept the challenge. The duel was brutal and evenly matched, but Dorn ultimately bested the dragonborn. True to its word, the dragonborn released the hostages. The kobolds rushed to retrieve their fallen champion and fled the town in haste.
With the threat finally passed, Nighthill personally thanked the party for their courage and aid in defending Greenest from the raid.
