Session 2
"The Raider Camp"
Planning the Rescue
In the aftermath of the raid on Greenest, Governor Nighthill summoned the adventuring party with a new mission: track down the raiders responsible for the attack. Among the missing was a monk named Leosin Erlanthar, believed to have been taken by the cultists during the chaos.
Before departing, the party was joined by Xenaphia, a tattooed elvish wizard whose quiet resolve and formidable arcane talents made her a welcome addition, accompanied by her ever-watchful owl familiar, K’thon. Together, they set out across the countryside, following the trail left behind by the retreating cult.
Stragglers on the Road
While scouting ahead, Maximus took to the sky and spotted a small group of kobolds and cultists who had broken off from the main force and set up camp to rest. The party held back, watching as Razc infiltrated the camp, posing as a fellow member of the Cult of the Dragon. With cunning words, he convinced the kobolds that the cultists had poisoned their meat, sparking violent infighting among the stragglers. When the dust settled, only one cultist remained—he offered little in the way of answers and ultimately sacrificed himself in the name of Tiamat.
Party at the Raider Camp
Undeterred, the party pressed on and eventually came upon a large raider camp, alive with celebration and overflowing with the spoils of Greenest. Disguising themselves as new initiates, they slipped into the camp and began searching for Leosin. Deeper within, they identified three key locations: a large guarded tent, an entrance to a cave, and Leosin himself—bound and guarded at the rear of the camp.
To gather more information, Xenaphia cast invisibility on Maximus, who soared overhead and observed Cyanwrath, a woman dressed in purple, and four beds within the large tent. He then flew briefly into the cave, spotting elite guardsmen and drakes lurking within. Meanwhile, the rest of the party was discovered and assigned to guard duty in a nearby tower.
The Rescue
The party waited patiently for nightfall and the end of the celebration to make their move. When darkness fell, they struck swiftly, eliminating the guards holding Leosin and freeing the monk, but not without alerting Cyanwrath in the process.
The camp erupted into high alert, and amidst the confusion, the party managed to escape into the night. Later, as they set up camp and caught their breath, Leosin expressed his frustration. Their rescue, though well-intentioned, had disrupted his plan to infiltrate the Cult of the Dragon from within.
